Get to know us.
I’m studying business informatics and data science at the Baden-Württemberg Dual University (DHBW) in Lörrach and I work on the Data & Analytics team. The practical and theoretical phases are precisely matched to each other, and that lets me link my existing knowledge between my study courses and work, which I really like.
Every day is different. I admittedly have repeat tasks such as dealing with queries on analytical topics that colleagues from the entire Haufe Group submit through our ticket system. Beyond that though, my tasks are really varied depending on which project I’m currently involved in. As an example I’m currently helping with the development of a new data model from the design stage through to implementation and, in doing that, also putting any obsolete processes into a standardized, new structure. I really get motivated anew each time I cooperate so closely and learn so much each day.
As a dual student at HG, I feel really relaxed and well connected with other students because we regularly swap ideas and info. Also, Young Talents like us get support thanks to regular training courses such as Haufe Group’s Skill Safari. I think the format’s great – I can not only network with all the other Young Talents but also get to know and learn about topics outside my special area.
In my three-year training as an event manager I’m work in many different areas, for example marketing, product management and HR. The focus though is on event management, and I can get a good look into all the teams that have something to do with organizing events.
When I join a new area or department I’m usually trained for at least 14 days, which means I can then get up and running with my own task packages. I’m also integrated into the weekly team meetings so I can voice my own ideas and suggestions. By the way: Mobile working from home is of course already possible during the training.
I appreciate the trust that’s placed in me and the responsibility I can assume with it – the fact that I have this freedom and I’m treated as an equal is completely natural for everyone, and it’s particularly important to me as a Young Talent. I’d like to tell future trainees who might be interested in event management that communication is very important in our profession. They should enjoy organizing and be keen to take on responsibility. Because we’re also involved in projects in lots of different areas, our ability to work in a team is essential. And of course soft skills such as friendliness, reliability and commitment are also must-haves.
I’m currently doing my second training year as a digital and print media business manager. The training lasts a total of three years and during this time, I learn a lot of really interesting things and I’m being well prepared for the time after my trainee position.
Training as a digital and print media business manager is a very exciting job in my opinion. Whether it’s magazines, books, newsletters, podcasts or online portals – I learn all the necessary commercial basics for digital media and traditional print media.
As part of the training I work in the areas of marketing, advert and campaign management and sales, and I also support our project management. But I’ve also been able to get to know other departments that are relevant to our what we do such as the editorial teams, content marketing, production and accounting.
I don’t yet know exactly what my future will look like after my training but I can well imagine carrying on working for Haufe Group, and perhaps in Media Sales. Over the next few months I’m looking forward to two trade shows which are the Medientage München and the Best of Events International in Dortmund, a trade fair for event marketing – I’ll be going there with colleagues and taking away some useful insights hopefully.
